Something I did back in high school. The only thing I've drawn that I ever kept. It's way too big to ever be scanned, and the frame was custom made by my step-father.
The image itself is sketched in charcoal pencil, where I then cut out the entire thing eith an exacto knife and glued it to another sheet of paper. Unfortunately some of the rubber cement smeared at parts, but that's the only thing I don't like about this picture. And I'm a really tough critic.
Baphomet is the old Templar god who was said to have created worlds from his dream, supposedly our world as well. He's both good and evil and is basically a symbol of balance. Hence him being male but with parts of the female anatomy. During the Inquisition, the Templars were persecuted for believing in Baphomet, and it was then dismissed as being the Devil. Which is why the devil is now portrayed the way he is now. Stereo-typical horns and goat legs and crap. Which is very false.
Lovely work! I think I like this angle the best. ^^ The frame is beautiful too!
And yes, the whole devil thing irks me too. People need to either do their research or just shut up.
Most people are know-nothing know-it-alls, even if you correct them, they'd spoon feed you some bullshit retort as to how they're still correct in one way or another. I hate getting proven wrong as much as the next person, but it doesn't happen all that often. lol. And I at least take it with some grace and civility.
Thank you so much for the compliment! I'm very glad you like it. It was the only thing I felt I should keep from my old drawings.
Oh, but this is a lovely pic! Now I'm curious as for what else you've drawn. Your Baphomet is just beautiful! ^^
Lol, that's exactly the reason I try to steer clear of religion and politics. Everyone thinks they know everything, so there's always bound to be some feudin' and a'fightin'.
Very interesting piece. I like the skull (instead of the furred goathead), it gives the same enigmatic feeling of Baphomet. Also, good use of color. I seldom see blue/grey on a red background!
Current Satanists do use Baphomet for inspiration, though they aren't quite the hyped up types we expect from the media. Though I'm sure many of them are hedonistic (matter over spirit).

Thank you so much for commenting! So lovely of you and I'm very glad that you liked it.
Yeah, modern Satanists do use him for inspiration and that's fine..but I try to educate when I can. Credit deserves to be given when its due and Baphomet and Satan are different. But oh well. lol.
